Cato Ridge Clubs
Battle of the Books
Does your student love reading, learning new things, and being part of a team? We invite all interested students to join our Battle of the Books Club!

What is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books is a reading competition club in which students read a selected list of books (see below)Â and work together to prepare for quiz-style competitions. During battles, teams answer questions about the books they have read, demonstrating their knowledge of characters, plots, settings, and themes. Students do not need to read every book on the list before joining. We'll support one another, discuss books together, and develop strategies throughout the year.

When will Battle of the Books meet?
During the fall semester, the club will meet on select Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the Media Center (see below). Beginning in the spring semester (starting in February), students selected for the competition team will meet on Fridays during PACK time. All interested students are welcome to participate in the first semester club. At the end of January, a team of 12 students will be selected to represent our school in the district’s Battle of the Books competition. Joining the club now is a great way to enjoy the books, meet other students, build your knowledge, and prepare for the opportunity to earn a spot on the competition team.

If your student is interested in participating, please arrange for them to attend our first meeting on Thursday October 15th at 8 am in the Media Center.
